Lord, here comes the flood
We’ll say goodbye to flesh and blood
If again the seas are silent in any still alive
It’ll be those who gave their island to survive
Drink up dreamers you’re running dry. – lyrics by Peter Gabriel

I painted this piece about 3 or 4 years ago but never gave it a name, to be honest I can’t remember what I was listening to whilst I was painting it. It’s been hanging on my kitchen wall since we moved last year. I was enjoying a morning Earl Grey and a couple of biscuits, listening to some random stuff on Spotify when the Robert Fripp version of Here Comes The Flood came on and Gabriel’s voice hit me in the right spot. Remember that scene in The Usual Suspects where the penny drops for Chazz Palminteri, well that’s what happened to me (except for the dropping of the mug) when the song came on. I knew I had the title for my painting. Has anyone else had this happen to them? A ‘eureka’ moment when a song comes on?

Fabulous post. And your art is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing it 😍🙌
