……answers are a prison for oneself.
When I created that image above, (available on various things and stuff on my Redbubble store. Click the link to see more! Shameless plug) using a photo of a shadow on my kitchen wall and the MirrorLab app, those words came into my head and they seemed to suit the design. The words come from the 60’s TV show The Prisoner, starring Patrick McGoohan, and they were featured on a sign that was in the local shop. I couldn’t remember the exact wording, so I decided to Google it on Bing and in the process I stumbled across Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, a Boston two-piece (Sophia Cacciola drums/vocals and Michael J. Epstein on bass) that are not only named after a Prisoner episode, but all their song titles are named after Prisoner episodes, with a few cover songs thrown in for good measure. They’re a proto-punk/new wave/no wave band who list, The Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, Nina Hagen, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and PJ Harvey as influences (amongst others), Sophia has a Patti Smith quality to her voice and they make a bloody, fine racket. I’m not sure what the duo are up to at the moment, the last entry on their blog is dated June 2018, but hopefully they’ll be making more music soon.
Be seeing you!
